本文将从过渡空间的角度探讨埃里克·侯麦电影中的外在空间如何反映人物的内在空间。具体地说,当电影里的人物从一个地点转移到另一个地点,他们也在寻求一种心理状态的转变。在故事开始的时候,他们总是感到孤立和隔绝,但在过渡空间中,电影人物在情感上得到释放和稳定的感觉。本文将以马克·欧杰的“非场所”空间作为过渡空间的一种形式,并通过温尼科特的“过渡现象”加以论证。然后,本文将侯麦90年代的四部电影中的人物分为旅行者和居民,并逐一分析人物的空间和心理转变。

In this essay, I am looking at how to make the exterior spaces in the film mirror the characters’ interior spaces in Eric Rohmer’s films, especially through the particular aspect of transitional spaces. To be more specific, accompanied with the transition from one place to another, characters are seeking for a transition of their inner state. They always feel a sense of detachment, loneliness or isolation at the beginning of the story, but the transitional spaces are the process of fulfilling a sense of liberation and stability. I will apply “non-place” space put forward by Marc Augé as a form of transitional spaces, then I will use the concept of “transitional phenomena” put forward by D.W.Winnicott to better demonstrate transitional spaces. Afterwards, I will divide characters to travelers and residents in Rohmer’s four films in the 90s, and analyze the spatial and psychological transition of the characters.
